Write Clearer Sentences
A clear sentence gives the reader one main idea without unnecessary detours. Begin by finding the subject and the action.
Remove repeated phrases
Look for words that add length without adding meaning. Keyword density can reveal repetition, but important subject terms do not always need a replacement.
Vary the rhythm
Short sentences can emphasize a point. Longer sentences can connect related ideas. A mix usually reads more naturally than sentences that all have the same length.
Read the draft aloud
If you lose track of an idea while reading, consider splitting the sentence. Estimated reading level is only a guide; it cannot measure the accuracy or value of your ideas.
